The aim of this program is to better serve ADFM vendors, members and customers by
strengthening the connection between consumer and producer; reducing the time it takes for food
crops to travel from farm to fork; and providing customers were with the best in  locally-grown
produce.   It is also the aim of the ADFM to help support farm families as they undertake the difficult
task of growing chemical-free food crops for locally-based consumers.
What You Will Receive Each Week
Each week you will receive a box of fresh,
locally-grown produce.  The cost of these
items are covered through your subscription
fees.  The content of the box will depend
on two things:  what you have selected
from the produce list on the subscription
brochure and what is in season.
Once you have paid the registration and
share fees, no other payments are necessary
through the twenty weeks of the program.

All items on the Weekly Add-on List are priced
separately and payment for these items, if selected
by you, are due when you pick up your box. The
same is true should you choose to purchase any
Special Add-ons.  These items will be advertised in
your box and on the CSA page of the market website
from time to time.  Please note that there is a
deadline of Monday midnight for Special Add-on
items ordered for the following Saturday.  This gives
our producers and artisans ample time to provide
you with the freshest product possible.

Other than produce, each week you will find a
newsletter full of recipes, and tips on matters like the
preparation, storage and freezing of various fruit &
vegetables.

As always, you are welcome to  browse our markets
- indoor and outside and purchase whatever you
like.  In fact, we encourage you to do so!

Weekly add-ons in season: fall raspberries

In Your Basket This Week   We are beginning to wind down a bit with the summer
produce and in the next week or so you will begin to see fall produce such as a variety of
types of apples and squash appear in your baskets.

A Few Things to Consider
Some of you may look in your baskets next Saturday and wonder why it does not
contain more produce.  Please remember that it is the beginning of the growing season
in Iowa and
the contents of the basket are based on two criteria:  what's in season and
what you have selected to receive
.  As listed on the application brochure (see below), the
average weekly cost for a half share is $10.80 and for a full share, $17.50.  This does not
mean that you will receive that exact amount's worth each week - it means that it will
average out over the entire 20 weeks.  As more produce is harvested, more of what you
have selected will appear in your basket each week.  In other words, your basket will fill
up as we approach the height of the growing season and decline as we approach the
end in the fall.  (Unless you've selected mostly fall produce.)

Please note that as a CSA member you are paying less than regular market price for the
produce you will receive.  Hence, you will get more for your money.  Also, if at any time
you would like to add something on the main produce list to your weekly selection or, if
you would like more of a certain type of produce you have selected or less of something
else, let us know at the market during pick-up or by email during the week.
Communication is key.  It is our goal to meet your particular needs and make the CSA
work as optimally as possible for everyone.

If you would like to discuss this (or any other CSA-related matter) at greater length tag
me at the market or email us at
adfmcsa@hotmail.com at any time.  Also, please feel free
to speak to any of our CSA producers at any time while at the market.  They will be more
than happy to discuss what they grow.
